Custom Message Bangles

Hope you will love this fun tutorial on how to make custom message bangles or bracelets that would be water and weather proof. The bangle or bracelet would neither fade in sun light nor in the water. It could be a perfect summer gift to wear.

Stuff Required:

• Raw Wooden Bangle
• Black Paint Marker
• Plastic Wrap
• Colored Inkodye (We choose the red color, you may choose as per your choice)
• Paint Brush
• Dish Washing Detergent
• Hot Water

Stuff Required for Custom Message Bangles

Precautions:

• Don’t expose to sun until you have done all initial steps and are ready to print your message on bangle.

Instructions:

Write the message (which you want to print on the bangle) on a piece of plastic wrap. Wrap should be big enough to wrap around entire bangle.

Transcribe – Write Message

Carefully practice wrapping it around the bangle to see if the message perfectly covers the area where it should be printed. It can easily be seen how it’ll look. Once you are satisfied with the message, you can put the plastic wrap aside. Now proceed to the next step. It may take a few times to get the penmanship right!

Perfection – Practice look and feel

Take the Inkodye color of your choice, we took the red, and pour it onto a plate or palet. It will only require a bit of it for the small bangle, so don’t pour too much!

Pour inkodye

Dip the paint brush into inkodye and paint the entire bangle with it for a nice even shade. Different colors of inkodye may be used for different inside and outside shades, we just used one.

Remove all excess Inkodye and keep wiping until the bangle feels dry. It will prevent condensation inside the saran wrap, when bangle will be placed in the sun. And don’t worry about wiping too much–the Inkodye has already been absorbed into the wood.

Take the plastic wrap and place your message wherever you want! Once you’re done and happy with the placement, pull the plastic wrap taut by gathering it towards the back of the bangle.

Take the gathered saran wrap and twist it towards the middle. Tape in place.

Tape it carefully

Expose your wrapped bangle out into the sun. The color will start to appear instantly!

Leave the bangle out for about four minutes on each side. It is recommended to turn it front to back and flip it upside down to ensure all areas develop fully even.

Once it’s done, bring the bangle inside and cut through the tape and saran wrap.

Removing Plastic

Peel back the saran wrap to reveal the customized dyed message! Once all the plastic is removed, it’s ready to be washed.

Revealed Custome Message Bangles

We recommend preparing a very hot wash bath using dish washing detergent as soap.  Let the bangle soak for at least 20 minutes, occasionally scrubbing the printed part with a brush or a sponge.
