DIY PVC Candy Cane Candle Jackets

PVC pipe material seems like an unlikely product to use for holiday and Christmas décor, but it can be used to make easy and simple DIY decorations for indoor and outdoor use. Using a few simple items including PVC pipe, paint and ribbon, you can add a holiday decorative flare to battery powered candles.

Battery powered candles can be found at almost any store that sells holiday decorations or in the arts and crafts section. They are relatively inexpensive and safe to display, especially if you have young children or pets in your home. Although, most battery powered candles are plain and white, but you can add some color and a holiday touch by creating these candle jackets.

The inexpensive supplies you will need to create candy cane themed candle jackets are:

  • 1” PVC Pipe
  • Battery Powered Candles
  • White Spray Paint
  • Red Spray Paint
  • Painter’s Tape
  • 1 Yard of Decorative Ribbon
  • Hacksaw/Miter saw

Procedure

1. Measure the length of the candle part of the battery powered candle. Although they are all generally the same diameter, they can vary in height. Mark off the lengths you will need for your candle jackets on the PVC pipe.

2. Cut to the size you marked on the PVC pipe using a hacksaw or miter saw. Clean off any excess plastic from the pipe.

3. Place the cut pieces of pipe on cardboard or something similar that is safe to spray paint on. Spray the cut pieces using the white spray paint. After the first coat is fairly dry, spray a second coat of the white paint to ensure you fully cover any markings on the pipe. Allow to fully dry.
